Overview and Responsibilities

Senior Support Worker, Orchard Manor 

Location: Meldreth - Cambridgeshire / Hertfordshire

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Salary: £13.05 - £13.65 per hour (£27,144 - £28,392 per annum) dependent on qualifications 

 

Rated CQC Outstanding Aurora Orchard Manor are seeking compassionate and dedicated people to become Senior Support Workers for our young people on a full time basis.

 

Set within 14 acres, Orchard Manor offers a supportive living and learning environment for young adults with severe and profound learning difficulties and complex health needs. With specialist facilities and a focus on promoting independence, we support each of our young people through the transition from education into adulthood.

The Role: 

 

Your role will be to provide support to the Team Leaders and Care Managers in managing, motivating and coaching a team of support workers to maintain a stable, happy and caring environment that puts the health, safety and welfare of our young people first.

 

You’ll provide appropriate physical and emotional support to the young people through the work of the care team within a residential environment and with off-site activities. 

 

As our shift leader you’ll be expected to support the induction of new team members and their continued mentoring and development towards QCF and other mandatory training.

 

You’ll also be expected to take an active role in ensuring that activities are completed and effectively delegated and day-to-day implementation of young people’s individual program plans are carried out efficiently with adequate cover available at all times.

 

This is very much a hands-on role where you will work directly with our young people and will provide appropriate personal care and emotional support to those using our services.

Essential Qualification:

  • Level 3 Health & Social Care

Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:

  • Experience and knowledge of working with young adults with complex needs and additional behaviours
  • Superb communication skills and patience
  • Highly organised
  • Resilient with a robust and positive nature
  • Ability to work on a rota pattern- please note that this will typically mean working every other weekend
