Salary: £73,509 - £81,070 (L19 – L23)

Start Date: September 2024

As part of our growth strategy; we’re really pleased to be opening a brand new SEND Secondary School in Summer term 2025 in the heart of Horsham, West Sussex. This will be an 80 place, all age special school that will prominently meet the needs of secondary students in the local area.with Autism and the associated difficulties with communication and social interaction that are typically associated with Autism.

 

We are looking for an experienced Headteacher to join us and take the lead in the creation, opening and running of a successful ASC provision in Horsham.

 

The role:

 

The building will be redeveloped; you will be expected to play a key role in the design, look and feel of the school to ensure it fulfils the independent school standards and the potential of an amazing learning environment with the facilities to allow students to access a varied curriculum in a calm and nurturing environment with a team that strives to give every student the confidence and opportunities to achieve their potential.

 

In line with all Headteacher roles; you will ultimately be accountable for all areas of operational and educational performance within the School, as well as the financial performance and management of education and support staff.

 

You will be instrumental in the recruitment and building of your entire team and the design and implementation of a brand-new curriculum in line with the aurora values.

 

To achieve in this role, you will be someone who inspires creativity and collaboration, a strong leader and a passionate advocate for your students, with a track record of school improvements and finding ways to deliver educational outcomes that make a real difference to each student..

Skills and Qualifications

 

Experience: 

Successful candidate is likely to demonstrate the following:

  • Qualified Teacher Status with further professional qualification in a relevant area.  Candidates with Headteacher qualification (such as NPQH) or a willingness to gain such a qualification preferred.
  • Experience of working as a senior leader within an SEN environment
  • A clear understanding of Ofsted frameworks and Safeguarding legislation in relation to independent schools.
  • Quality assurance experience
  • Team management experience.
  • Superb communication and stakeholder management skills
