Overview and Responsibilities

Clinical Psychologist – Aurora Cedars School
Location:  Wolverhampton
Contract Type: permanent, part-time, term time only
Hours:  32 hours per week (4 days per week), with the opportunity to increase as cohort increases
Annual Salary: Up to £72,384 pro rata (depending on experience) 

The Aurora Group is an innovative provider of education and care for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities with an ambitious growth plan.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to work as part of a therapy within our school.  Aurora Cedars School provides flexible day placements for students aged 5 to 19 years with ASD and/or SEMH needs and communication and social associated difficulties.  Some may be on the autistic spectrum or have anxieties and difficulties that create barriers to learning.

This is an exciting new post that has been created to develop and embed our clinical offer to young people. Our multifaceted and therapeutic approach aims to address the whole person, taking into consideration clinical biological, physiological and psychological aspects. The post holder will work collaboratively with school staff to deliver bespoke assessment and intervention plans for our young people.

You will be providing a systematic high quality psychology service within our school, working with others to promote the wellbeing and best interests of our young people.  This will endorse the effectiveness of our educational offer to achieve our aim of providing the highest quality service to our young people and ensuring a provision in line with best practice guidelines and internal policies and procedures.

The post will involve undertaking Clinical Psychology/Psychotherapy duties whilst adhering to professional and regulatory guidelines, you will carry out assessments, design individualised plans and strategies. As well as implementing evidence-based therapeutic interventions; report writing and multi-professional reviews you will provide advice, information, and training to staff, as well as parents, commissioners, and other agencies. You will be supported by Assistant Psychologists and a school staff team of nurturing and enthusiastic Teachers and TA’s who are committed to providing the very best.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Criteria:

  • Post-graduate doctoral level in Clinical Psychology or Psychotherapy equivalent.
  • Registered with the HCPC and BPS or equivalent.
  • Experienced in working with young people with ASD and complex SEMH needs
  • Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the setting
  • Substantial and relevant post-qualification experience with children and young people Good knowledge of relevant psychometric tools
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
