Part Time Catering Assistant

Location: Aurora Woodlands, Darwen

Contract Type: Part-time, Permanent

Hours: Full-time, 20 hours per week - Monday to Friday 9am - 1pm.  Term Time Only

Salary: £11.72 to £11.93 p/hr / Actual annual salary £10,470.65 to £10,658.26 depending on experience

The Aurora Group is an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special educational needs and disabilities.  Aurora Woodlands School is an independent day school in Lancashire providing specialist education for young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH).

 

The main purpose of the role: 

As a Catering Assistant, you will support the School Cook in preparing and serving meals for students and staff and maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen area. 

 

Key duties: 

  • Supporting the Cook in meal preparation.
  • Keeping the kitchen environment clean and tidy at all times, including washing all kitchen & catering equipment, surfaces and floors.
  • Unloading of food and beverage deliveries as required.
  • Food storage in accordance with outlined standards.
  • Delivering and serving of food as required.
  • Upholding the highest standards of Food Handling & Hygiene

Skills and Qualifications

Experience and Qualifications: 

  • Level 2 Food Hygiene & Safety (Catering) essential.
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • knowledge of health and safety legislation (including COSHH regulations, manual handling, and food hygiene procedures) and requirements in relation to food preparation.
  • Knowledge of Natasha’s Law.
  • Good standards of literacy, numeracy, written and verbal communication.
  • Proven ability to prioritise tasks and work flexibly.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
