Location:Rockshaw Road, Chaldon, Surrey 
Contract Type: Permanent 
Actual salary: £23,210.52 - £23,853.77 dependant on qualifications and experience  
Hourly rate: £12.99 - £13.35 per hour 
Hours: 40 hours per week - Term Time only - Start time 8.15am - Finish time Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 4.45pm. Thursday 5pm and Friday 4pm

As part of our growth strategy, The Aurora Group are really pleased to be opening a brand new SEND Secondary School in September 2025 in Chaldon, Surreyfor young people aged 11-16 who require support with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism. All our students have access to a broad and exciting curriculum, allied to the national curriculum, personalised to meet their needs, interests and passions. With a model of small classes, high levels of classroom support and a supernumerary multi-disciplinary intervention team we are able to give students “every opportunity to achieve”  

 

We are looking to recruit a Receptionist to join our team at Chaldon School. This is an exciting opportunity to join the school at the start of their journey. You will be based at Aurora Chaldon school with a requirement to work out of our satellite site Caterham when required 

 

The main purpose of the role: 

 

The receptionist is the front face of the school, you will be responsible for reception and telephone duties, welcoming visitors, diary management, taking deliveries and supporting the administration team with day-to-day admin tasks.

Key duties: 

  • To act as the first point of contact for all visitors to the site, following safeguarding processes at all times including checking ID documents and correct signing in and out procedures.  
  • Man the desk / Reception at all times. 
  • Liaising with office suppliers. 
  • Gate control. 
  • Identifying the caller’s Requirements for internal and external queries, providing an appropriate response. 
  • Receiving, logging, passing on and if necessary, following up messages for colleagues in a timely and effective manner so that visitors are made to feel welcome and that colleagues can be notified about visitors. 
  • Copying, collating and distribution of documents, operating and completing basic support activity for a standard copying machine. 
  • Operating a computer to access databases and using word processing applications when required. 
  • Maintaining, updating, sorting and retrieving a range of records/statistical data, including monitoring/ordering of stationery and office supplies if appropriate. 
  • Accurate filing, indexing, retrieving and other related work. 
  • Prepare documents, reports and presentations as required. 
  • Typing and setting up documents such as letters and reports. 
  • Managing post. 
  • Diary Management. 
  • Support Attendance Management Information System for students.  
  • Maintaining the condition of the reception area and arranging for necessary repairs via Maintenance team. 
  • Circulation of announcements as required 
  • Assisting and liaising with the Referrals team, receiving and passing on phone enquiries, organising assessment dates.

Skills and Qualifications

 

Successful candidate qualities: 

  • At least 5 GCSEs grade 4 or above to include Maths and English is essential. 
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. 
  • Demonstrable experience of working in an administrative role. 
  • Computer literacy – Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint and ability to use range of databases once trained. 
  • Ability to manage own time to deal with multiple tasks.  
  • Discreet, confidential and reliable.
