Location:Rockshaw Road, Chaldon, Surrey

Contract Type: Permanent, full time 
Actual annual salary: £30,014.40 - £33,508.80 dependant on qualifications and experience 
Hourly rate: £14.43 - £16.11 per hour 
Hours: 40 hours per week - Start time 8.15am - Finish time Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 4.45pm. Thursday 5pm and Friday 4pm

As part of our growth strategy, The Aurora Group are really pleased to be opening a brand new SEND Secondary School in September 2025 in Chaldon, Surreyfor young people aged 11-16 who require support with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism. All our students have access to a broad and exciting curriculum, allied to the national curriculum, personalised to meet their needs, interests and passions. With a model of small classes, high levels of classroom support and a supernumerary multi-disciplinary intervention team we are able to give students “every opportunity to achieve”  

 

We are looking to recruit a Senior Administration Assistant (Students) to join our team at Chaldon School. This is an exciting opportunity to join the school at the start of their journey. You will be based at Aurora Chaldon school with a willingness to work out of our satellite site Caterham when required.

  

The main purpose of the role: 

 

The purpose of the Senior Administration Assistant (Students) is to be responsible for day-to-day pupil administration, which may include enquiries, referrals, registration and preparation of review documentation.

Key duties: 

  • Work with the commissioning and placements team to arrange visits and complete admission paperwork, in liaison with the school SENDCo teamEnsure that all relevant forms and paperwork related to pupil admission is completed and held on pupil files. 
  • Maintain pupil records on the school MIS, including ensuring registers are up to date and absences are monitored and followed up where necessary. 
  • Ensure that all orders are processed according to school protocol and notify staff when goods are received. 
  • Champion the school lunches – promote to parents and liaise with local supplier. 
  • Assist with First Aid and Medication administration when necessary. 
  • Assist staff with school trips by making preliminary enquiries with coach companies.   Trips should be organised by teaching staff and final booking should be made by Finance Assistant.

Skills and Qualifications

 

Successful candidate qualities: 

  • GCSE Maths and English qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent is essential. 
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. 
  • Demonstrable experience of working in an administrative role (Preferably in a school setting) 
  • Computer literacy – Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint and ability to use range of databases once trained. 
  • Accurate typing, touch typing desirable. 
  • Organised, good time management. 
  • Ability to manage own time to deal with multiple tasks. 
  • Ability to be discreet, confidential and reliable. 
  • Experience of SEN children/young adults desirable.
