Assistant Psychologist – Hedgeway

 

Location: Pilning, Bristol, BS35 4JN 

Salary:  £24,103.93 - £27,749.00 (FTE £28,059.20 - £33,302.40)

Hours: 40 hours per week –Term time only

 

Closing Date: Monday 15th September

 

Aurora Hedgeway is a dynamic and inspiring provision for children and young people aged 7-19 with a primary or secondary diagnosis of Autism and related social and communication needs.

Your Role:

 

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Assistant Psychologist to join our team at Aurora Hedgeway School, where you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality psychological assessment and intervention services under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist.

 

In this role, you will support the psychological wellbeing and development of our young people by:

 

  • Assisting with the distribution and completion of standardised questionnaires, including scoring and summarising responses.
  • Conducting cognitive and other standardised assessments, particularly with young people who may find traditional assessment processes challenging.
  • Gathering and synthesising background information from reports and documentation to inform psychological understanding.
  • Supporting staff in the development of clear, effective risk assessments and helping teams understand behaviour through a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework.
  • Observing young people in both structured and unstructured settings, recording detailed and accurate behavioural notes.
  • Ensuring all documentation is well-organised and stored in line with data protection requirements.
  • Delivering targeted skills-teaching sessions to young people, guided by PBS principles.

Skills and Qualifications

Successful candidate qualities:

 

 Essential

  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary Education team
  • Psychology Degree
  • An understanding of Autistic Spectrum Conditions, ADHD and SEMH
  • Organised and able to take instruction
  • Experience of using excel and Microsoft 365 including SharePoint and Teams.

Desirable

  • Further academic studies / experience in the field of Psychology
  • Experience of running small groups for young people using Evidence Based Interventions
