Overview and Responsibilities

Nurture Teacher – SEN

 

Location: Effingham, Surrey

Salary: £34,398 - £48,913 per year (M1 - UPS1 Fringe)** Plus £5,000 Welcome bonus For Qualified Teacher

Hours: 40 hours per week - - Start time 8.15am - Finish time Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 4.45pm. Thursday 5pm and Friday 4pm          

Start Date: As soon as possible

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to students’ educational, physical, and social needs, using short, medium, and long-term planning.
  • Collaboration: Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to meetings and maintaining effective communication with staff and leadership.
  • Student Progress: Set, monitor, and review personalised learning targets; assess and report on student progress to stakeholders.
  • Planning & Reflection: Develop and evaluate lesson plans, incorporating self-reflection and curriculum developments.
  • Student Support: Contribute to EHC plans, PEPs, and LAC reviews; manage behaviour positively in line with school policy.
  • Professional Practice: Stay informed on autism and inclusive education to enhance teaching effectiveness.

Skills and Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

 

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience in special school settings, particularly with pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Proven ability to deliver a differentiated curriculum to meet diverse learning needs
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum
  • Working understanding of ASC and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including complex presentations

Desirable:

  • Specialism in Science
  • Additional qualifications in SEND
  • Experience in curriculum development for learners with SEND, especially those with autism
  • Understanding of co-occurring conditions associated with autism and their impact on learning
