Pastoral Lead – Aurora Linemere

  

Location: Backwell, Bristol

Contract Type: Full-time/Permanent, Term time only + 2 additional weeks

Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary: £37,007 (FTE £40,000)

Preferred Start Date: 13th April 2025

 

Closing Date: 27th January 2026

 

Aurora Linemere is opening its doors in Summer 2026, and we’re looking for an experienced Pastoral Lead to help make this vision a reality. This is a rare opportunity to be part of something truly transformative.

 

Aurora Linemere will be a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious school for children and young people aged 5–19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With a capacity of 96 students, our vision is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational environment where every learner can thrive.

 

The role:

 

As Pastoral Lead, you’ll take responsibility for leading the pastoral team and driving behaviour for learning, welfare, and personal development across the school. You’ll embed proactive support strategies and ensure high expectations for behaviour and conduct are consistently applied.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and supervising the pastoral team, including line management and appraisals.
  • Tracking and monitoring behaviour and interventions.
  • Developing and embedding the school’s rewards system.
  • Coaching staff on de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour approaches.
  • Supporting families and leading pastoral meetings for early intervention.
  • Delivering staff CPD and contributing to EHCP processes.
  • Maintaining compliance with DfE and Ofsted guidance.

About You:

 

We’re looking for someone with:

 

Essential Qualifications

  • Strong education in English and Maths.
  •  

Essential Experience

  • Previous experience in a SEN setting (ASC and SEMH).
  • Extensive experience in pastoral or wellbeing roles.
  • Knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education legislation and risk assessments.
  • Skilled in managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with staff, students, and families.
  • Competent in ICT and electronic systems.
  • Full driving licence.
