Aurora Vincent House School

As part of our growth strategy, we are really pleased to have opened a new SEND Secondary School in the heart of Horsham, West Sussex for autistic young people aged 11-16. We are a happy school that values kindness and understanding where everyone feels safe. Most of our students are coming to us from mainstream education to have access to an adapted National Curriculum delivered in small classes with a focus on meeting their sensory needs and support for their emotional wellbeing.

The Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher who is trained as a primary teacher who can teach in Key Stage 3 with an initial focus on year 7 where the students work within a primary model. Whilst many of our students are capable of working at or above age expectations, they often have gaps in their learning and so the ability to teach the key stage 2 outcomes is important. Key to this role is the pastoral responsibility for supporting the wellbeing of our young people and using a holistic approach to supporting them closely liaising with our therapists and SEND team. Our students are hoping for a teacher who is patient, fun and wants to understand them. This requires you to be flexible and neuro-affirmative in your approach where the relationship with the young people comes first.

Please note that duties will vary and you will be expected to contribute to the overall aims of Vincent House School when required. Please see below full job description:
