HR Administrator – Aurora Hedgeway

  

Location: Pilning, Bristol, BS35 4JN 

Contract Type: Part-time/Permanent

Hours: 32 hours per week (4 days per week), full year, 8.30am-4.30pm

Actual Salary: £22,197.76 - £24,011.52 - dependent on experience and qualifications

Aurora Hedgeway is a dynamic and inspiring provision for children and young people aged 7-19 with a primary or secondary diagnosis of Autism and related social and communication needs.

  

We are currently looking for an experienced Full Time HR Administrator for our Aurora Hedgeway School. The school supports young people aged 7 - 19 with a primary or secondary diagnosis of Autism and related social and communication needs.

 

The role:

 

This is a varied and rewarding position where no two days are quite the same. You’ll play a key part in supporting the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding, through to ongoing HR processes and maintaining accurate records. You’ll also support general administration across the school, helping to keep everything running smoothly.

 

Reporting to the School Business Manager, you’ll be the go‑to person for HR queries on site, ensuring all documentation, systems and processes are handled professionally, efficiently and in line with safer recruitment and compliance requirements.

 

What you’ll be doing:

 

  • Supporting a safe, robust recruitment process in line with company policies
  • Preparing and updating job descriptions
  • Handling starter and leaver processes
  • Supporting with maternity/paternity/attendance and other personnel changes
  • Maintaining accurate HR files, databases and compliance documentation
  • Preparing letters, reports and meeting notes
  • Supporting managers with probation, attendance and conduct processes
  • Offering helpful advice on PAYE, pensions, absence, and general HR queries (with support from central teams)
  • Supporting the wider school team with general admin tasks when needed

Skills and Qualifications

About You:

We’re looking for someone who is:

 

  • An experienced administrator (HR, finance or payroll experience welcome)
  • Confident using Word, Excel, Outlook and databases
  • Highly organised, with great attention to detail
  • A clear communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing needs
  • Professional, discreet and committed to confidentiality
  • Warm, approachable and happy working as part of a supportive team

 

You’ll also need a good standard of education, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.
