Education Learning Support Practitioner – Aurora Foxes Location: Minehead, Somerset Hourly Rate: £11.72 - £12.78 Annual Salary:£16,915.75 - £18,445.10 (FTE £24,378.00 - £26,582.00) Hours: 30 hours per week – Term time only     Welcome to Aurora Foxes, an educational establishment with residential provision. We are a specialist college for young people (16-25years) with learning disabilities, situated in the friendly seaside town of Minehead. Foxes is a very special place; the students work at our fully operating hotel and are integrated in the community here at Minehead.   We believe in changing lives and giving our students the skills, knowledge, and confidence to successfully shape their own future. Our aim is to equip our young adults with the life and hospitality skills to become work ready, life ready.   The main purpose of the role:   As one of our Education Learning Support Practitioners your role will be to assist our students during a range of sessions within our residential houses, classrooms and at Foxes Hotel. Your role is to help achieve our mission which is to equip young adults with learning disabilities to find sustainable employment in the hospitality sector and to live independently.   Key duties: - You will have high expectations of all students, and to constantly challenge and stretch each student at every opportunity. - Support the students in their learning, enabling them to reach their full potential. - Professionally and effectively support with managing student behaviour, seeking further advice and guidance where appropriate. - Support every student to make progress in each session under the guidance of the tutor, and to assist the tutor in ensuring this progress is recorded, evidenced and evaluated effectively and efficiently. - Creatively produce resources that will support student progress. - Respect the privacy (confidentiality) and dignity of all students and at all times adhere to the equality and diversity policy.   Please note: the successful candidate will be required to work a mixture of shifts, including earlies, lates and every other weekend, on a 2 week rota pattern.

Term time plus additional days and training (42 weeks per year)   Please note: there is a requirement for shift work including weekends and sleep-ins. The main purpose of the role:   As our Bank Kitchen Assistant you will be responsible for maintaining good hygiene within the kitchen, including but not limited to washing pots and pans, mopping, fridge checking and ensuring the kitchen’s smooth working order.   Key duties:  - Wash-up after meal service using the dishwasher. - Keep all areas of the Stillroom clean and hygienic at all times. - Keep dry and vegetable stores area clean and tidy. - When required to unpack, check and store fresh and dry goods. - Undertake general cleaning duties of the Stillroom, Flying Fox, Training Kitchen, and Main Kitchen as directed by the Chefs. - Act in an appropriate manner with learners attending Foxes Academy, under the supervision of Chefs, Tutors and Management. - Provide guidance to learners working in the kitchen under the supervision of Chefs, Tutors and Management. - Ensure all Health & Safety and Food Hygiene legislation is fully understood and complied with.

The main purpose of the role:   As one of our Bank Functional Life Skills Tutors, you will be required to deliver and evaluate inspiring, engaging, and individualised sessions of the highest quality that challenge and stretch every student in all areas of their Functional Skills. If appropriate you will also complete session plans for the next session.   We expect all functional skills tutors to support the students professionally, effectively and sensitively in their learning.   Key duties: - Deliver professional, inspiring, and engaging sessions of the highest quality that challenge and stretch every student, and in which all students are motivated and engaged throughout. We expect every tutor to be always fully engaged in the session without exception. - Ensure that all students receive professional, timely and effective feedback, with appropriate strategies (next steps) to improve their performance, and that such discussions are evidenced through effective and professional record keeping. - Prepare, direct and lead Learning Support Practitioners (LSP) within your session, and to actively always promote a professional attitude and approach with the LSP. Ensure the LSP is provided with direction to best support students within the session. - All tutors must be familiar with, and actively use the principles of RARPA (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement). Functional Skills tutors will become familiar with City and Guilds assessments in maths, English and ICT. - Ensure that all Risk Assessments are read, understood and used to ensure the highest standards of student and staff welfare, health and safety. The main purpose of the role:   As our Bank Housekeeperwill be responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of all furniture, fixtures, and fittings in all the bedrooms and public areas of Foxes Hotel.  The Housekeeper will also be responsible for carrying out full changeovers and servicing of guest bedrooms to a high standard.   The main purpose of the role is housekeeping, however, should there be instances where there are no Housekeeping duties to complete, the role will also involve supporting Students.   Key duties:   - To be responsible for checking each hotel room and area daily, to ensure correct items are placed in the rooms. - To be responsible for the welfare and comfort of our guests. To ensure they are well cared for during their stay with us and will wish to return. - Assist and/or attend student and hotel events, such as graduations. - Supervise and control the laundry and domestic stock and to ensure all chemicals are securely locked away. - ensure that all guest accommodation is prepared by the correct time and inspected before a guest is shown to their room. - ensure the safety and well-being of the students on duty by being aware of Company policies relating to Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, RIDDOR and COSHH. - Ensure all equipment and products required for effective housekeeping and kitchen needs are ordered in a timely manner. - Effectively work independently, and alongside students where necessary, promoting independent skills, being aware of individual learning objectives and ensuring health and safety is followed, using highly relevant resources.

As a tutor, you will to plan, prepare, deliver, and evaluate inspiring, engaging, and individualised sessions of the highest quality that challenge and stretch every student.   We expect all tutors to support the students professionally, effectively, and sensitively in their learning, and manage student behaviour, seeking further advice and guidance where appropriate.   Key duties:   - Deliver professional, inspiring, and engaging sessions of the highest quality that challenge and stretch every student, and in which they are motivated and engaged throughout. We expect every tutor to be fully engaged in the session without exception - Plan and prepare robust and professional assessments, ensuring that all tracking (including base lining, target setting and review) and reports associated with these are completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner, and that any records are kept up to date. All tutors must be familiar with, and actively use the principles of RARPA (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement) and accredited - Work professionally and collaboratively with all colleagues and teams across the Aurora Foxes, including the Therapy team and House Team Leaders, to analyse student performance and ensure that they make progress commensurate with their ability. Where underachievement is identified appropriate strategies should be implemented immediately and reviewed. Where overachievement is identified, targets should be reviewed, and further challenges agreed within teams and set. - Ensure that all students receive professional, timely and effective feedback, with appropriate strategies (next steps) to improve their performance, and that such discussions are evidenced through effective and professional record keeping (Evaluations, Tutorials and Reviews). - Prepare, direct and lead Learning Support Practitioners (LSPs) within your session. Ensure that LSPs contribute throughout the session including session evaluation and student assessments where applicable. - Contribute professionally and constructively to any review and development of any course, scheme of work, quality assurance processes and procedures.
